Leading Nutraceutical manufacturer counts on Marco's TRAC-IT MES Go back

Marco TRAC-IT RFM Recipe system

Marco Ltd are delighted that ongoing confidence in their TRAC-IT MES Factory Efficiency System has resulted in a second prestigious order from Gwent based EuroCaps Limited, this time for a weigh count system to control and track the packing of their finished goods.

EuroCaps, a part of DCC Nutraceuticals, is a leading contract manufacturer of soft gelatine capsules, servicing the vitamins, mineral and dietary supplement (VMS) market worldwide. The TRAC-IT Recipe Formulation Manager (RFM) installed in 1999 has brought significant improvements to their production, which typically involves capsule order quantities ranging from 100,000 to 10 million at a time. Technical Director Michael Bolt is enthused about the important differences TRAC-IT MES has made and as he explains: "TRAC-IT MES has given our operators and management confidence that the recipe formulations are correct, we experience virtually zero dispensing errors and stock control is significantly improved. The intuitive user-friendly software has ensured a wide acceptance by all concerned and because it is user- definable we have exactly the system that we need."

As Michael continues: "Once confidence had grown in TRAC-IT (RFM), our attention turned to the packing area where the existing semi-automated filling systems include the manual recording of packed box weights. This system is far too operator reliant and any issues relating to specific packing orders are difficult and time consuming to resolve. To overcome this, we had no hesitation in turning to Marco for a solution."

The TRAC-IT Finished Goods Manager (FGM) will provide the same operational flexibility, full traceability and reporting as the existing Recipe Control Module. Important system features include the capability to measure and monitor average capsule weights, whilst the self-learning 'product in flight' compensation will ensure accurate fill quantities from box to box.

As Michael Bolt concludes: "We have invested significant amounts of time and money to establish a leading facility so that we comply with existing and future European and National legislation. We are licensed by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and British Retail Consortium (BRC) accredited, allowing us to supply to leading supermarkets and retail outlets. Control and traceability are essential within the process to ensure our customers receive the highest quality products. Once this latest Marco TRAC-IT module is installed, the system will provide complete control and electronic traceability from Goods-in to Despatch."
